Tisbury-based national PR agency E=MC² Public Relations has helped a Salisbury hockey team to find the formula for success ahead of the new season by supplying it with brand new kit.
The company has joined forces with the Stars, a roller hockey team based at the Five Rivers Leisure Centre in Salisbury, to sponsor its strip for the 2009/2010 season. The Stars will carry the E=MC² company logo on its striking new red and black kit when the new season gets under way this month (October).
Roller hockey – like ice hockey but without the ice – is usually played on hardwood floors with competitors wearing roller blades. Formed in 1990, the Stars currently ply their trade in the British Rink Hockey Association Senior Division One, winning several league championships and numerous individual awards. The team has also successfully competed in a number of national tournaments, and five members of the current side have represented Great Britain at International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS) World Championships in Europe and North America.
“We’re thrilled that E=MC² has generously agreed to sponsor us for the new campaign,” says Stars player and manager David Hall. “We’ve got a great team spirit; most of the guys have been together for more than 15 years. The support we’ve received from E=MC² will enable that to continue. We’re all training hard in preparation for the new season and we can’t wait for our first game.”
As a thank-you for the sponsoring the team, the Stars have presented E=MC² Public Relations managing director Liz Coyle-Camp with her very own personalised shirt. It remains to be seen whether she will pick up a hockey stick and don some roller blades though!
“Roller hockey is not only one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, it’s also a great way of keeping fit and staying healthy for players of all ages,” says Liz. “We’re delighted to be involved with something which helps promote health and fitness in such a positive way and we wish the Stars the very best for the new season.”
